Credit Card Terms - Holdback

A contractual condition in which money is withheld until a specified event occurs,
also known as a reserve. In credit card terms this is a fee held back from a merchant's credit card transactions to cover any possible charge backs, and other disputed charges that a merchant may encounter. Usually, after a time, the holdbacks are returned to the merchant.
