  • Errors on Your Bill
    If you find an error on your bill you must notify the credit card issuer in writing no less than 60 days after the bill with the error was sent to you. Include the following information in your letter to the card issuer:

    • Your name

    • Your account number

    • The type of error

    • Date for the error,

    • Amount of the error

    • Reason why you believe the bill contains an error.


    The card issuer is obligated to investigate the problem and either correct the error or explain to you why the bill is correct. The card issuer must complete this no later than 90 days after it gets your error notice. During the investigation you do not have to pay the amount in question, or related fees like the finance charges.


  • Unauthorized Charges
    The maximum amount for which you can be held liable if your credit card is used without your authorization is $50 per card. Additionally, if you report a card as lost or stolen before it is used, the card issuer cannot hold you responsible for any unauthorized charges. To limit your liability always promptly report a lost or theft stolen credit card.
